National Framework Agreement for Clinical Waste Services for GPs As you will be aware from our letter of 20th October 2016, NHS England has launched a new national framework agreement setting our consistent standards for collection and disposal of clinical waste from GP surgeries and unwanted medicines from pharmacies. NHS England is responsible for commissioning the collection and disposal of clinical waste from your practice on your behalf. Read letter here
ON BEHALF OF GLENN COLEMAN I am pleased to advise that agreement has been reached regarding the changes to the GMS contract for 2017/18 which will result in £238.7m investment across England. The changes aim to address concerns of the profession in relation to workload and increasing expenses and other agreed changes. The agreement also reflects commitments made as part of the General Practice Forward View (GPFV) and continues to make significant investment in primary care.
The BMA is continuing to hear of examples where GP practices are being told by local public
health officers that they must prescribe oseltamivir to all residents in a care home following a
person contracting influenza within that home. In some cases we’ve seen evidence of GPs
being threatened with GMC referral if they do not comply.
It is unacceptable that these requests continue and that there is still no properly commissioned
service to fulfil this work. Read more
The GP Health Service can help with issues relating to a mental health concern, including stress or depression, or an addiction problem, in particular where these might affect work. The service is self-referral. It is provided by health professionals specialising in mental health support to doctors and is available in various locations across England.
