NHS 10-year plan FAQs

Dear colleagues, you will by now have seen the NHS 10-Year Plan and the aspirations it contains. There is a clear direction on the three key areas the Plan will follow. Whilst much of the detail is still awaited here are some questions raised locally or nationally and initial responses to each.

10-Year Plan Briefing on NHS Trusts Development

The NHS Fit for the Future 10-Year Health Plan was published on 3 July 2025. The Plan outlines three main objectives for the future of healthcare:

1 moving care from hospitals to community setting

2 transitioning services from analogue to digital, and

3 shifting the emphasis from sickness to prevention.

To achieve these objectives, as part of a devolved and diverse NHS, the Plan sets out several structural changes for NHS providers.

2024 Budget Implications

The implications of the rise in the minimum wage (and knock on impact for staff paid above this rate) plus the rise in employers’ National Insurance contributions were key points discussed at the November LMC meeting.
